FST Learner Privacy Policy

FST Learner is an app provided for First Step Trust learners, trainers and administrators. First Step Trust is the organisation responsible for the app and the app data described in this policy.

The app supports access to learning content, learner progress, assessments, trainer support and administration of First Step Trust learning programmes.

Data we collect

Depending on how the app is used, we may collect and use:

• Account and login details such as name, email address, phone number where provided, user ID and role.
• Course enrolment information.
• Learner form responses.
• Course and module progress.
• Lesson and content interaction data.
• Practice quiz activity.
• Final assessment access requests, release decisions, submissions, scores and outcomes.
• Feedback form responses.
• Technical and app activity data needed for security, troubleshooting and app functionality.

How we use data

We use app data to:

• Provide access to the learning platform.
• Manage learner accounts and course enrolments.
• Track learning progress.
• Support trainers and administrators in learner support.
• Manage final assessment access and results.
• Improve course delivery and learner support.
• Maintain security, reliability and compliance.

Sharing data

App data is used by First Step Trust and authorised staff, administrators and trainers for learning support and operational purposes.

Data may be processed by trusted service providers only where needed to operate the app, hosting, storage, security or support services. We do not sell app data.

Security

App data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access is role-based, and First Step Trust uses reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect app data.

Retention and deletion

Data is retained only as long as needed for learning support, operational, safeguarding, reporting, legal or compliance purposes.

Users can request account or data deletion in the app through Settings → Request account/data deletion. Users can also request deletion through the public deletion page: https://app.firststeptrust.org.uk/content/account-data-deletion.html.

Some information may need to be retained where required for legal, safeguarding, audit or legitimate operational reasons.
